JONATHAN BURGE

Attorney at Law

Bribery

This is a class C felony, with a maximum possible punishment of five years in jail and a $10,000.00 fine. Because of the possible penalty, you are entitled to a jury trial.

We have represented a number of people for this offense in the past. What we have found in these types of cases is that they are usually charged with other counts such as Promoting Gambling or Promoting Prostitution. Technically, bribery can occur in connection with any type of case if there is an accusation of paying off a public official. Sometimes, there is a question of entrapment associated with this type of case. Most of our former clients have felt that they would not have attempted to bribe the official if not entrapped into doing so.
