Unauthorized Entry into Motor Vehicle

Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle (UEMV) is a class C felony punishable by up to five years in jail. If this is your first offense you may be able to keep these charges from your record, even if you think you are guilty.

We have represented a number of people charged with this offense. UEMV is a relatively new crime in Hawaii, going into effect within the last decade. Basically this crime is burglary in a vehicle. It is an illegal entry into a car and committing another crime inside. This includes taking property from the car or committing an assault or another crime in the car.
